RIVERSIDE COURTHOUSE
Located at 4050 Main St Riverside, CA 92501, the Riverside Superior Courthouse serves the Riverside Police Department for all of its criminal cases. When someone is arrested in the city of Riverside, their case and charges will travel to this courthouse.
The defendant will then have to appear at this courthouse to contest the case or plead guilty. However, if there is no case to be filed, then the court will dismiss the case, but the inmate will have to appear in order for them to dismiss it. Also, the law states that the district attorney has up to one year to file a case based on that arrest depending on if they found new evidence or new information has appeared.
The Riverside Superior Courthouse does more than just criminal cases. Someone could also handle your traffic needs here as well, if you get a ticket in a certain city, you will probably go to the courthouse closest to that city. When you enter the courthouse, you will notice that there are police officers standing in front waiting behind a metal detector. You will have to put all of your belongings in a tray, which will then be sent through an x-ray machine and you will have to walk through the metal detector.
This is not to harass you or make you feel like a criminal, but it is to make sure that everybody in the courthouse is as safe as possible. In these times it is impossible to determine who wants to do harm to others, so the police take every precaution when it comes to the safety of the courthouse. This is mainly due to the amount of traffic that the courthouse experiences in one day.
Along with the search at the front door, there are officers roaming the halls of the courthouse at all times. The police even have their own office in the courthouse where they monitor the security cameras and answer inquiries about the safety of the building. However, the Riverside Superior Courthouse does not want people to be discouraged from visiting the courthouse.
They want you to witness firsthand how the courthouse operates with criminal cases, but they want you to be as safe as possible when doing so.
There are a lot of things that a person could learn from visiting this courthouse and everyone in the city is encouraged to do so. If you have any more questions regarding this courthouse and its operations, please feel free to contact their administration department or visit them when they’re open.
